Who We Are

EcoKlip was started by a small group of people with the simple idea that little things can make a big difference. We care about the environment, we care about people, and we know that each of us can make the world we live in a better place.

Did You Know?

Plastic pollution can afflict land, waterways and oceans. It is estimated that up to 8.8 million tonnes of plastic waste enters the ocean from coastal communities each year. Some researchers suggest that by 2050 there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by weight. Living organisms, particularly marine animals, can be harmed either by mechanical effects, such as entanglement in plastic objects, problems related to ingestion of plastic waste, or through exposure to chemicals within plastics that interfere with their physiology. Degraded plastic waste can directly effect humans through both direct consumption (i.e. in tap water), indirect consumption (by eating animals) and disruption of various hormonal mechanisms.

This Is Your Planet Too

We believe that little things can make a big difference. Join us in our “Go Green” initiative to identify simple, low-cost solutions to help our planet. Our goal is to prevent more than 1,000,000 bottles from ending up in landfills, rivers and oceans.

 FAQ

What is Eco Klip?

Ecoklip is a simple, effective and Eco-friendly clip to reduce over-consumption and excessive plastic waste. They fit many common pump dispensers - on hand soaps, sanitizers, cosmetics, cleaners and lotion dispensers. The clip limits how much each pump dispenses.

We see pump dispensers everywhere from the home and office to just about every cafe, coffee shop, retailer, shopping mall and commercial establishment. Every school, hospital, temple or church, and any major transit service have them widely available. It is so ubiquitous that consumers now expect stores and businesses to have them installed. They are not going away any time soon and neither is the plastic.

Using less soap, hand sanitizer and dispensed liquids also mean you reduce exposure to chemicals and throw away less, which is great for the environment. Made out of recycled plastic, they are Eco-friendly, simple and easy to use!

Why Eco Klip?

Companies survive and thrive by a simple rule: Sell, sell, sell. They want you to buy, consume and buy more of their products. Simple, right? The problem is many companies are focused more on sales than solutions. It is estimated that in the first half of 2021, more than 20,000,000 pump bottles were thrown away. Since less than 15% of all plastic is actually recycled, most ended up in landfills, incinerators, and in our lakes, river, and oceans.

The plastics industry line is “plastics are not the problem, people not recycling is.” That is a half-truth at best. The reality is plastics ARE part of the problem. It is also true that lack of proper recycling AND over-consumption compound the problem even more. Companies have long employed “planned obsolescence” in their products. Planned over-consumption is used to increase sales by having the consumer use more than needed. It wastes your money and increases the amount of plastic compounding our increasing environmental crisis.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, companies should adapt their products to be more sustainable. Ecologically friendly solutions exist and could easily be incorporated into the supply chain. This would reduce their carbon footprint, save consumers money and stop million of bottles from being thrown in the rubbish.

Our hope is that with enough consumer pressure, manufacturers will do the right thing and incorporate more effective solutions so Eco Klip becomes a product that should not exist.

What is Eco Klip made from?

Eco Klip is made from recycled polypropylene (aka PP). PP is commonly used in plastic containers, reusable water bottles and many other things.

How much will Ecoklip save me?

It will depend on the product you are using it on. Our tests show between 20-75% reduction in use/waste. For example, we installed EcoKlip at a cashier station at a local store. They reported using two bottles every day before Ecoklip. After Ecoklip, they say one bottle lasts for two days. That is a 75% reduction in costs AND waste. Think about it—4 bottles thrown away in 2 days versus one bottle. The savings add up fast

Will Eco Klip work on all bottles?

No, unfortunately not. There are dozens of shapes, sizes, and styles so there is no “one size fits all” solution. We have tested Ecoklip on 100s of bottles and more than 30 prototypes. We designed the Ecoklip you see today to fit many common soap and sanitizer bottles. It is not meant for extra-large tubes, foam dispenser-type bottles, and those with very short necks. We recommend using EcoKlip on pump dispensers that have a tube between 6-9 mm.

How do I use Eco Klip?

Just clip EcoKlip on to the pump tube and you should be good to go. Due to the variety of designs, some may require 2 clips

When installing the clip make certain it is properly secured to the tube. Do not stretch the clip too wide as this may damage it. Do not use on tube great than 9 mm. Keep out of reach of children. Keep away from flames and high temperatures. Use only as directed and dispose of the product according to local regulations.

What’s next for Ecoklip?

We will continue to improve the design and usefulness of Ecoklip and make it more accessible to anyone that wants it. EcoKlip is made from recycled plastic and we continue to search for more sustainable and cost-effective materials. While we cannot eliminate plastics from our lives, we will remain committed to support efforts to recycle and repurpose as best we can.

We hope to use our collective voices to engage manufacturers to be more focused on the environmental impact of their products and packaging. In the end, we hope that products such as Ecoklips are no longer needed as consumers demand companies be more economical and environmentally friendly. Take a look at our Change.org petition so that we can collectively raise awareness of this environmental problem related to pump bottle waste. Read it here.

We plan to donate up to 10% of our profits to local NGOs working on environmental awareness and protection issues. If you have a favorite group, you would like to recommend, please email us, and we will be sure to include it in our review.

We will continue to expand our partnerships with communities and companies to support their sustainability and environmental awareness programs.

The issue of over-consumption is easily resolved by the manufacturers. If they become part of the solution rather than part of the problem, Ecoklip will have served its purpose and can go away.
